Frequently asked questions
Clear answers to common questions about how I work and the support I offer.
What is a Virtual Assistant, and how can you support my business?
A Virtual Assistant provides remote business and administrative support. I help with tasks such as admin, documentation, content support, CRM management, and day-to-day organisation, taking pressure off so you can focus on running and growing your business. It’s flexible support without the commitment of a full-time hire.
How can administrative support help my small business?
Admin support takes care of the time-consuming tasks that often get pushed to the bottom of the list. That frees up your time and headspace, allowing you to focus on decisions that really matter.
Who do you typically work with?
I work with small business owners, consultants, and entrepreneurs who need reliable, behind-the-scenes support. Many of my clients are mums in business, so I understand the realities of juggling work, family life, and everything in between. That experience shapes how I work and the flexibility I offer.
Do you offer sales support within the electronic security industry?
Yes. With over 20 years’ experience in the electronic security industry, I can provide tailored sales and business support informed by real industry knowledge, not guesswork.
Can I hire you for a specific project or on a retainer basis?
Yes. Support is flexible and can be project-based, ad hoc, or on an ongoing retainer. I’ll always recommend the option that best suits your needs. Full details are available on the Services page.
What is it like working with you?
Straightforward, organised, and calm. I take the work seriously, but not myself. You’ll get clear communication, reliable support, and someone who quietly gets on with things without adding to your mental load.
How do I get started?
The first step is completing the contact form. Once I’ve reviewed your details, I’ll be in touch to arrange the next step if I’m the right fit. Or if you prefer, you can book a free no obligation discovery call with me.
What are your rates?
My hourly rate is £35. Options for ongoing support are outlined on the Services page. A detailed time report is provided with every invoice
What is your availability?
My core working hours are Monday to Thursday during term time. Some flexibility is available outside these hours by prior agreement, depending on client needs.
Do you offer customised service packages?
Yes. Support is tailored to your business and workload. You only pay for what you need, and I’m happy to suggest a bespoke approach where appropriate.
How do you handle confidentiality and data protection?
Confidentiality is taken seriously at all times. I am GDPR compliant, insured, and ICO registered, ensuring your data is handled securely and professionally.
How will I know how much time has been spent on tasks?
All work is tracked using a time-tracking system. You’ll receive a clear time breakdown with each invoice so you can see exactly how your time has been used.
I’ve seen McMillen VA TaskBox mentioned on LinkedIn. What is it?
TaskBox is a 5-hour block of support for one agreed project. It must be used within the same month and is priced at £175, with payment taken upfront. TaskBox availability is limited and offered only when capacity allows.
